Hopefully you've read the "more about me" section. In fact, if you haven't, read it, because it's probably going to be very important on this site as a whole.

Thought of as one person, we're both genders. So it would be technically correct to call me transgendered. Chard (he doesn't use "Rich") says that he'd probably be transgendered anyway, like if it was all him. I think he'd probably be more male than female.

We think it's important not to think of gender as two separate things, like the colours black and white (not skin colours, and I'm saying that so no one mistakes me for racist), but more to think of gender as a gradient, with one side male and one side female, and there being plenty of space in between. I think Chard's probably near the centre, but a little closer to male, whereas I'm actually futher away from the centre than him and on the female side.
We also think it's important not to think of gender as completely moot. Argue if you want, but I'm sure you could find strong evidence to say I'm right that there are things that can be called characteristically one side of the gender gradient, not to say that the other side couldn't have that thing as well, just that it's more common in the opposite. I know it's a cliché, but take shopping for example. Lots of people would call going shopping generally a more female thing, and if you (could be bothered to) do a survey all around the country of "do you like going shopping?", it's my belief that there would be more yesses from females than from males. So genders do exist, just there is no boundary between them.

Going back to thinking of us as one person, halfway across the distance between mine and Richard's places on the gender gradient would be where we'd be as one person, and I think that's probably very close to the middle but on the female side.

So we're definitely transgendered. Of course I'm still very much in "the closet" about that, and it doesn't help having (mainly having to live in the same house as) a dad who's both very much against the idea of transgendered people and the kind of person who shouts and threatens until he gets his way. He's (potential big rant coming...) like a child, like a bully at school, acts all cool around you but really threatening you to be friends with him, I don't care if you think it's wrong or if you really can't relate or have any objections or whatever but I can say, without feeling my natural constant need to doubt, that I hate him. I HATE him. I really, really do. In fact, that's for a later post, that I'll probably spend several days writing (because thinking about the situation usually gets me so angry I lose my ability to explain).

On a much lighter note! If you don't for any reason object to transgendered people, and you like comedy, I would very much recommend the work of Bethany Black.

They're some good ones to start with, probably.

Good news soon, hopefully.
